Grimsby Power was prepared for the damaging effects of the Hurricane Sandy and crews were at the ready to respond to customer outages.
In the event of multiple distribution system outages, Grimsby Power maintains a practice of prioritizing outages in the following manner:
· Make safe all electrical hazards which may endanger the public. For example downed poles, lines, transformers, etc.
· Make repairs to equipment which will eliminate the outage for the greatest number of customers. For example main feeders and then lateral feeders.
· Make repairs to individual customer services
In the end, there were few problems in the municipality and most people escaped with relatively short or no power outages, despite the violent storm winds and rain which lasted over 14 hours.
