Plant Construction

Grimsby Power is always working to improve our system to increase service reliability. In 1989, we set a vigorous plan to completely rebuild the entire system over a 25 year period.  From 1990 to 2002, Grimsby Power upgraded the power and completely rebuilt the distribution lines below the escarpment. In 2003, Grimsby Power started working above the escarpment.  In addition, we partnered with our neightbours to build a new transfomer station on Mountain Street to continue to provide safe and efficient supply to power locally into 2020 and beyond.  The following is a list of our planned capital work projects from 2007 to 2014.  Once we complete the work in 2014, it will be time to start over again as many of the assets only have a 25 year lifecycle.

2007

Rebuild Mud Street in two stages west of Mountain.  First build from Mountain to Woolverton.  Then build from Woolverton to the Stoney Creek Border.
2008
Complete the rebuild of Mud Street from Park to Thirty Road.  Remove the load transfer on Fairbrother.  Then rebuild Kemp Road west of Woolverton.  Rebuild the lines on Hysert between Ridge Road and Kemp.
2009
Complete Hysert Road rebuild.  Then rebuild the lines of Ridge Road west of Woolverton and start on Ridge Road east of Woolverton.
2010
Complete Ridge Road east of Woolverton.  Then rebuild Kemp Road east of Woolverton Road to Mountain.
2011
